I remember reading a story in a local paper about the Greenwood Daycare Center right after it opened, probably back in 1997 or so, never thinking we'd have any reason to be not just a “customer” of LPRD’s childcare options, but ardent fans!

We picked Greenwood Daycare Center after touring several others. No other place was as genuine or as nurturing with the children, or as down-to-earth with their parents. We were so happy with the level of care and support, and the way the staff worked with us, that when my place of employment changed from Hartford to Northampton, we stayed in Longmeadow. I did not trust that I could find another environment as wonderful as Greenwood for our children.

So it was natural that Marlene's sister Lillian also attended Greenwood Daycare, just as her sister was getting ready for Kindergarten. And because we were so happy with the way we saw the afterschool programs were run, especially the respectful way the counselors and children interact, it was a no-brainer to choose Greenwood Extended Day for Marlene. In the summer, she’s enjoyed the LPRD day camp and Lillian eagerly looks forward to her first summer as a camper next year. And because of the coordination LPRD can provide, they've been able to take dance lessons and art lessons while at Greenwood, which means we don't need to figure out how and when we're going to drive them to and fro.

We grew up in towns with nothing similar to Longmeadow Parks & Recreation Department and feel incredibly lucky to have both the activities and the great people Longmeadow Parks & Recreation Department provides for our children.
