Drama Program: Musical Production Ages 10-14
James Cass, along with, Irina Dolzhenko will continue to offer this unique after school drama club activity to aspiring actors in Grades 4-8. The program, in its ninth year, will meet once weekly for a two hour rehearsal and culminate with an evening musical performance in January at the Community House. Costumes will be rented from a Professional Costume House. Actors will be taught a variety of theatrical activities throughout the program. Lead musical parts are available to those actors who feel most comfortable in those roles. This program allows participants the opportunity to express themselves in many ways while fostering self-esteem, broadening socialization and developing teamwork skills.

Mr. Cass is a certified theatre teacher with the state of Massachusetts and holds a degree in acting from Webster University in St. Louis. He has held the position of drama teacher for Chestnut Middle School in Springfield for the past seventeen years. He has created a number of drama clubs in the area and has acted professionally in regional theatre.

Ms. Dolzhenko is a certified music teacher with the state of Massachusetts. She has held the position of Music teacher at Chestnut Middle School for the past fourteen years and is responsible for music concerts and talent shows. Her background includes teaching piano and conducting the academic chorus in Ukraine. Dress rehearsal is Friday, January 21, 6pm-9pm. Performance is scheduled for Saturday, January 22, 6pm-9pm.

Teen Center
Youths in Grades 6-8 and their same aged guests are welcome to come and enjoy a “supervised evening out” on Fridays from 7pm- 10pm at the Greenwood Center. Admission is $7.00 per person. Enjoy dancing and games with DJ Jon O’Neill! All students must sign in prior to entry.

School dress codes are strictly followed. Teen Center is run and staffed by area college students. Parent information packets are available on site at each Teen Center event. Red Cross Babysitting
Are you old enough to be home alone after school or do you want to learn how to take care of other children in your family or neighborhood? The Red Cross Babysitting class is a great place to start. Learn how to handle emergencies, entertain children and what activities are geared toward what stages of development for an infant or toddler. Learn what you need to know when staying home alone or watching younger siblings.
Participants ages 11 and up will learn about the basic care for children of all age levels, job responsibility, first aid procedures and activities to keep children safe, happy and busy. Modern Etiquette: Life Coaching for Children and Teens, Ages 7-11
Local radio personality and Certified Child/Teen Etiquette Coach Denise Vozella teaches kids about good manners and proper etiquette in a modern style. This entertaining and interactive course helps children learn the importance of respectful behavior in different social situations. In this 6 week after school program, children will learn through games and activities, important life skills including: proper greetings, gift giving, internet and phone etiquette, safety, bullying, thank you notes, and mealtime manners. In addition to her career in broadcasting and etiquette certification, Denise draws on her experiences of working with children as a scouting leader, school volunteer, and mentor to teenaged media interns. The program ends with a graduation ceremony in which students receive a certificate of completion, and gives them a chance to showcase some of their new skills. Offering your child the gift of etiquette can lead to the social skills they need to feel confident in today's demanding and competitive world.

American Girl Workshop Holiday Tea and Crafts
Join your friends for a special morning creating festive American Girl inspired crafts,listening to American Girl stories and playing traditional games.

You’ll decorate Kirsten’s St. Lucia Wreath and Samantha’s Victorian holiday ornaments. There’ll be time for a tea party in fancy china cups and yummy tea cakes and cookies. American Girl clothing and accessories will be for sale at the end of the program.
